SAFA MASJID, PONDA

These Are the pictures of Commemorative Stone and Old Times Safa Masjid Built by Ibrahim Adil Shah in 1560 A.D Located at Ponda City, North Goa, India. Its Southern water tank has a natural water spring which keeps the tank with water throughout the year.
It is written on the commemorative Stone of Safa Masjid, Ponda:

'SAFA MASJID, PONDA'

' Built by Ibrahim Adil Shah in 1560 A.D. Safa Masjid is Rec. Angular in shape and has a Water tank in The South. The Masjid is of a single prayer hall with no columns. It stands on a raised platform surrounded by ten rectangular laterite pillars. The interior of the mosque consists of mihrab in the Central arch facing West. The mosque is surrounded by Persian Arches in the interior as well as exterior.
The water tank comprises of niches in the form of mihrab arches seen all around The tank. It has natural spring which keeps the tank with water throughout the year. It measures 55 Meters Long and 38 meters wide with six flights of steps which leads to the water level.'
