These Are The Pictures Of Commemorative Board And Centuries Old Rock-Cut Temple Complex Located At Masroor(Masrur) In Kangra Valley, Himachal Pradesh, India. Masroor Rock Cut Temple Complex Is Also Known As Himalayan Pyramid And 'Thakurwada'. There Is Also A Pond In Front Of This Edifice Which Shows The Reflection Of The Temples.

' Magnificently Stands On A Hill Crest, The Rock-Cut Temple Complex Is A Unique Example Of Monolithic Temples In Sub-Himalayana Region. The Entire Complex Comprises More Than Fiuteen Sikhaar-Temples And A Large Rectangular Water Tank Hewn-Out Of The Sandstone-Rock. Most Of The Sikhara Have Fallen Down And Considerable Damage Has Been Caused By The Earthquake Of April 1905. In The Center Of The Complex Stands The Principal And The Most Elaborately Carved Shrine. The Thakurdwara, Enshrining The Black Stone Images Of Rama, Dita And Lakshmana Facing East, It Consists of A Square Garbhagriha, An Antarala, A Rectangular Mandapa With Four Massive Columns And a Mukhamandapa With Four Subsidiary Shrines On Either Sides. The Magnificent Door-Way To Garbhagriha Has Five Sakhas, Ornamented with Graceful And Dainty Foliated Patterns, Brands Of Diamonds Etc, And Figural Sculptures. The Tall Pilasters Of The Antarala And The Mukhamandapa And OOrnately Embellished With Diamonds, Arch-Padma,Pair Of Ghatapallava And Other Other Decorative Motifs. The Massive Columns of The Mandaraa Show A Plain Ahaft Rising from a Vase Carved With Foliage Designs. These Stands on a Square Pedestal With Diamond Motifs From Each Side Of The Mandapa, A Staircase Augends To A Roof Terrace. It Appears that This Temple Was Originally Dedicated to Shiva, As Indicated by The Presence of The Figures Of Shiva on Lalata of The Doorway. In The Absence of Inscription And Any other Contemporary, Epigraphic Or Literary Records The Patronage Of The Temples Can not be Ascertained.However On The Basis of Architectural And Sculptural Decorations This Temple Has been Assigned a Date To Eightd-Ninth Century A.D. In View of Its Architectural And Sculptural Importance, It Was Declared Protected As A Monument Of National Importance Vide Notification No PN. 201 Dated 12-02-1914.'
