These are photographs of English commemoratives stone and British times grand beautiful building of Empress Market located at Saddar Town Karachi, Sindh, Pakistan. It is also known as K. M. C. Market. It is one of the seven markets in Karachi. Empress Market Karachi is an icon of British architecture. The construction of Empress Market Karachi was started in 1884 A. D and completed in 1889. The English constructed Empress Market on the historical grounds where a number of native sepoys were executed by the British after the war of independence 1857 so that the native people may not build a memorial of their native sepoys. The British built  Empress Market Karachi to commemorate the jubilee of Queen Empress Victoria. The commemorative stone of Empress Market Karachi provides this historical information:

"EMPRESS MARKET
Built by the Karachi Muncipality to celebrate the jubilee of the most gracious Majesty Victoria Queen Empress. Opened 1889. J. Strachan."

Tollinton Market Lahore



The are photographs of English commemoratives stone and British times grand beautiful building of Tollinton Market Located on the Mall Lahore, Punjab, Pakistan. Here, Exhibition of Arts and Industry was opened by Lieut. Governor Robert Montgomery on January 20,1864 A. D. The tollinton market was constructed in 1864 to house the first Punjab Exhibition and acted as Museum premises for next 30 years. The Tollinton market was renovated during 2002 to 2005 by Tajdeed - e - Lahore Committee. I couldn't found any foundation stone on the building of Tollinton Market Lahore.


After renovation, a commemorative stone was erected on the front wall of the Tollinton market Lahore. This commemorative stone reads as below :



' Tollinton Market was renovated between the years July 2002 to September 2005 under the patronage of Lt. General Khalid Maqbool (R) Chairman Tajdeed - e- Lahore Committee

' The foundation stone of the Baghdad-Ul-Jadid Mandi Office was laid on Saturday the 14th of December, 1946 by Major General His Highness Nawab Al-Haj Sir Sadiq Mohammad Khan Sahib Bhadur V., Abbasi., G. C. S. I., G. C. I. E., K. C. V. O., L. L. D., Ruler Of Bhawalpur State. '
