In 1996 Suresh Kalmadi, The Minister Of Railways Changed The Name Of The Station To Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus In Honour of Maratha King Chhatrapati Shivaji, The Founder Of The Maratha Empire.

The Construction Of This Building , Owned By Great Indian Peninsula Railway, Began In May,1878 And Completed In May 1888. Wilson Bell Was The Chief Engineer And Frederick William Stevens Was Consulting Architect. The Building Was Given The Name Of Victoria Terminus In 1887 During Queen's Golden Jubilee Celebrations. Later It Was Renamed As Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus In March, 1996 In Memory Of Chhatrapati Shivaji, The Great Maratha Warrior King.
Today This Grand Building Stands Out Majestically And Is An Important Hub Of Activities, Catering To The Needs Of Millions Of Commuters In The Metropolis.'

The Ground Breaking Of Renovation And Improvement Work Of Kangan Pur Railway Station Was Done By Sardar Aseff Ahmad Ali M.N.A And Federal Minister/ Deputy Chairman Planning Commission On Sunday, October 18, 2009. Kangan Pur Railway Station Was Built In 1926 A.D. Kangan Pur Railway Station is Situated on The Railway Track From Lahore To Karachi. In The Past, There Travelled a Lot of Trains On This Track But Now Only One Train Named Farid Express Runs On This Track From Lahore To Karachi. This Track is The Shortest Track To Reach Karachi From Lahore. The Federal Government Should Look After This Track And Open More New Trains To Fulfill The Travelling Requirements Of The Population.
