Sardar Jassa Singh Ahluwalia was the Sardar of Ahluwalia Misal and his contributions in establishing the Khalsa Raj is of immense magnitude. Sikh Nation will ever be grateful to him for his splendid achievements.

Historical facts written in English on bilingual Commemorative board reads as:

'Sultan-Ul-Quam'

Sardar Jassa Singh Ahluwalia

May 3, 1718 - Oct. 20, 1783 A. D

With the blessing of Sri Guru Gobind Singh ji, Sardar Jassa Singh Ahluwalia, Guru Ka Lal was born at Ahlu village near Lahore on May 3, 1718 A. D. Brought up under the gracious patronage Of Mata Sunderi Ji, trained and educated under the supervision of Nawab Kapur Singh. Sardar Jassa Singh Ahluwalia emerged as a sweet blend of reciter of the Kirtan and fighter of the battles. His contribution in establishing the Khalsa Raj is of immense magnitude. The Sikhs ruled on Lahore and Delhi under his leadership and he had earned the title of Sultan-Ul-Quam and Nawab. Also earned the title of Bandichhor after he liberated thousands of Hindu girls from the clutches of Abdali.

Misals were created to hold the small groups together and for better Governance and administration.

Sardar Jassa Singh Ahluwalia was not only the Sardar of Ahluwalia Misal but his words were final in case of any dispute between the Sardars of other Misals. In fact, he laid the foundation of Khalsa Raj. For these splendid achievements, Sikh Nation will ever be grateful to him.

The holy structure of Sri Darbar Sahib in its present form was built by Sardar Jassa Singh Ahluwalia on Baisakh, Bikrami samvat 1821 (1764) after it was demolished by Ahmad Shah Abdali. A amount of Rs. 9bLacs was contributed by Sardar Jassa Singh Ahluwalia and Rs. 5 lacs by the other Sardars for the Reconstruction of holy structure of Sri Darbar Sahib. During the reign of Maharaja Ranjit Singh the holy building was gold plated and came to be known as "Golden Temple". The contribution of Ahluwalia Sardars in gold plating is of great significance as all the Tombs (Gumbads) on the Golden Temple were gold plated S. Fateh Singh, the Successor of S. Jassa Singh Ahluwalia.

In the month of Katak Samvat 1840 (1783 A. D) while coming to Darbar Sahib for Diwali Sardar Jassa Singh Ahluwalia passed away. He was cremated near Baba Atal Rai, where Nawab Kapur Singh was cremated.
