Lahore Museum



These photographs are of English commemorative stone, commemorative metal plate, site map plate and British times grand beautiful building of Lahore Museum located at the Mall Lahore, Punjab, Pakistan. It was initially built as Jubilee Museum and Technical Institute in 1890 A. D. Presently Lahore Museum comprises the galleries i, e Pre and Proto Historic Gallery, Hindu Buddhist and Jain Gallery, Sadequain Gallery, Ethnological Gallery, Coins and Medals gallery, Contemporary craft gallery, Pakistan Movement gallery, Pakistan postage stamps gallery, Jain Gallery, Ethnological Gallery-II and III (Fabrics), Miniature paintings gallery, Contemporary paintings Gallery, General gallery, Manuscript & Calligraphies gallery and Fakir Khana Collection. There is also a Auditorium Hall, a Library and a library cum committee room in the building of Lahore Museum.

Old commemorative stone well preserved in glass cases provides this information :


'Jubilee Museum and Technical Institute

This stone was laid by his Royal Highness Prince Albert Victor of Wales K. G. K. P.
February 3rd 1890.'

Another commemorative metal plate in Urdu speaks as under :

' Honorable Field Marshal Muhammad Ayub Khan, Nishan e Pakistan, Halal e Jurrat, President of the country Inaugurated this Museum after reorganization on Tuesday 28 November 1967 A. D according 25 Shaban 1387 Hijri'
