WARCHA SALT MINES

These Are The Pictures Of Commemorative Board And Warcha Salt Mines Located At Khushab, Punjab, Pakistan. Salt Mining Started Hundreds Of Years Ago From Warcha Salt Mines.
It Is Written On The History Board Of Warcha Salt Mine Khushab, Punjab, Pakistan:
' WARCHA SALT MINES '
' Warcha Was A Princely State During The Mughal Era Ruled By "Phulial" (Mangial) Family Which Is A Subcaste Of Awan Tribe. This Family Was The Richest In The Area As They Controlled The Warcha Mines. The. Ruler Of The State Was Called The Chief of Warcha And Nawab Surkhru Khan Was The Last Ruler Of The State. He Was The Cousin Of Nawab Of Kalabagh. After The Demolish Of Mughal Empire, The State Was Also Resolved And Sardar Hari Singh Nalwan, The Commander In Chief of Sikh Army Took The Control Of Warcha Mines In 1834. The Salt Was Quarried & Mined Out During Sikh Rule And Traded In The Various Markets As For As Central Asia Along with Khewra Salt.
SHIFTING OF ADMINISTRATIVE CONTROL
In British Era Mines Were Under The Control Of Central Excise And Custom Department. Development Of Main Mine Started In 1868 While Production From This Mine Began In 1872. Later On In 1962 Project Was Handed Over To W.P.I.D.C Since 1974 Salt Mine Warcha Is Being Managed By PMDC.'
