The English Writings Written on Commemorative Board Describes As Below :

Akbari Sarai

'The Courtyard with a series of Rooms on its all side called Akbari Sarai is situated between the tomb complexes of Mughal Emperor Jahangir and his Minister Asif Khan. The court Historian Of Emperor Shah Jahan, Mullah Abdul Hameed in his book 'Badshahnama' Mentioned the Sarai under the name of Jilu Khana-e-Rouza meaning attached court of the tomb. The open Courtyard of the Sarai is flanked on all sides by a raised terrace where rows of cells numbering 180, which are fronted with a verandah are built and common spaces at the corner of the Sarai are graced by Burjies. The Sarai has two Stately Gateways of usual Mughal style, one on North and the other on the South, these gateways are beautifully decorated with fresco and Ghalib Kari. From the decorative elements, it style of the structure and the the size of bricks, the Sarai and the entrance gateway to the tomb seems built at one and the same period, apparently part of a single building complex of Shah Jahan 's time. The Sarai as appears from its name was meant for the visitor and probably also for providing accommodation for the establishment looking after the tomb. To the west of the Sarai in the middle of the row of cells is a mosque with splendid Domes. It is graced with red sandstone facing decorated with inlay work. The interior of the mosque was probably once embellished with tastefully executed fresco and Ghalib Kari. Maharaja Ranjit Singh converted this Sarai into a Cantonment and one of his Spanish officer named Oms also known as Amise Musa Frangi used to live in this Sarai with his Paltoon. During the early British Period, the Sarai was converted into Coal depot for Railways. '
