A Tribute to Pak Army
These Photographs are of English /Urdu Commemorative board and Bust of General Sir Frank Walter Messervy, the first commander in Chief of Pakistan Army (14 August 1947 to 10 February 1948) Located inside Pak Army Museum Lahore, Punjab, Pakistan. General Messervy started his Army service in 1913 in British Indian Army and participated in the first and second world Wars in France, Palatine, Syria and Kurdistan. He performed important responsibilities till his retirement in 1948.

'General Sir Frank Walter Messervy KCSI, KBE, CB, DSO & BAR
General Sir Frank Walter Messervy became a member of Officer Corps of British Indian Army in 1913. In 1914,he joined 9th Hodson's Horse later renamed 4 Duke of Cambridge 's own Hodson' s Horse. He participated in The first and second world Wars and saw action in France, Palatine and Syria from 1914 to 1918. Later he served in Kurdistan in 1919.
On promotion as Lieutenant Colonel, he remained a member of Faculty of Commerce and Staff College Quetta from 1932 to 1936 . He commended 13 Duke of Conneaut's own Lancers in British India during 1938 and 1939. Later he commanded a Brigade and served on staff also.
Just before the independence of Pakistan, Messervy was promoted as Lieutenant General and appointed as General Officer Commanding-in-Chief, Northern command of British India from 15 October 1946 to 4 June 1947. After independence, he became the first commander in Chief of Pakistan Army in which capacity he served from 14 August 1947 to 10 February 1948 till his retirement when he was granted the Honorary rank of General.'
