House of Queen of Melody Noor Jahan Lahore

 " Merry Christmas 🤶" 




These are photographs of Urdu/English commemorative boards and house of Queen of Melody Noor Jahan located at Bazar Sheikupuriyan Inside Taxali Lahore, Punjab, Pakistan.  The real name of Malika-e Tarrunum Noor Jahan is Allah Wasai. She was born in 1926 and died in 2000 A. D. No doubt, Malika-e-Tarrunum Noor Jahan was a great singer and actress. Malika - e- Tarrunum Noor Jahan lived in this house from 1938 to 1942.

Another bilingual commemorative board provides this useful historical information:

"Madam Noor Jahan known as" Malika-e-Tarrunum", the queen of Melody was one of the greatest entertainer among the elite artists of the Subcontinent. She was born on 21st of September 1926. She started her film career from the Pre-partitiion Indian Film Industry but later migrated to Pakistan in 1947 and carved a legendary name for herself both in act and playback singing. She spent some years of her life here in Taxali Gate and now the same property is owned by someone else."

I First World War Memorial Plaque at Village Takhti, Rawat, Pakistan






These are photographs of First World War memorial plaque and pillar located at Village Takhti Rajgaan near Rawat, Islamabad, Pakistan. Because of war services, the British Authorities erected such memorial plaques throughout Sub-Continent including Punjab. These memorial plaques are erected in such villages from where people went to participate in The First World War as soldiers. The present condition of memorial plaque and pillar is satisfactory. 

From the village Takhti, 7 men went to the Great War 1914-1919 of these 1 gave up his life.

Clock Tower & Ripon Hall Multan


Administration of "The History Of Sub-Continent Through Commemorative Stones" is much pleased to post the beautiful and splendid British times monument of clock tower Multan with its commemorative stone. Corner stone of Clock Tower Multan was laid 12 February 1884 A. D and its construction was completed within four years. It's building has Indo-Saracenic architectural style. It was built for the offices of Muncipal Committee Multan. After the independence of Pakistan, Ripon Hall was renamed as Jinnah Hall. Now city Government Multan has converted it into Multan Museum. The clock of this clock tower is now tells correct time after 26 years. 


English writing on Commemorative stone speaks as under:


"This corner stone of Northbrook Clock Tower and Ripon Hall was laid by the Honble Sir Charles Umpheraton Atchison L. L. D., K. C. S. I., C. I. E., Lieutenant Governor of the Punjab on 12th February 1884."

First World War Memorial Plaque at Village Lehri District Jhelum



This photograph is of the First World War Memorial Plaque located at Village Lehri Tehsil Sohawa District Jhelum. This First World War Memorial Plaque is affixed on the wall of the building of Union Council Lehri Tehsil Sohawa District Jhelum.



The Great Britain not only won the First World War but also won the Second World War. It was due to the help of people of Sub-Continent especially due the people of Punjab. This like memorial plaques are erected through the Punjab and Sub-Continent. The local native people supported the British Authorities in these great wars. They fought bravely against Germans for the cause of British interests. This World War Memorial Plaque provides this historic information:


"Lehri


From this village 391 men went to the Great War 1914-1919 of these 44 gave up their Lives"

Hailey Hostet Old Campus Lyallpur



All these photographs are of English commemorative stone and Majestic beautiful building of Hailey Hostel located at old campus University of Agriculture Faisabad, Punjab, Pakistan. It is one of the earliest buildings of University of Agriculture Faisabad built by British ruler. This hostel building was named after Sir William Malcolm Hailey. Now Hailey Hostel is renamed as Hailey Hall.



According to English commemorative stone, Hailey Hostel was opened on the 30th July 1927 by his Excellency Sir William Malcolm Hailey K. C. S. I., C. I. E., I. C. S., the then Governor of the Punjab.

These are photographs of Urdu commemorate board and Great Mughals times entrance building of a Fort named Rani Bagh located at city Kangan Pur District Kasur, Punjab, Pakistan. This heritage building is now under the custody of Pakistan Army and called as Rani Bagh Camp. Urdu commemorate board describes the following informative facts about Rani Bagh Kangan Pur:



" Rani Bagh


For nearly in 650 A. D., Raja Kambo of Chunian gave the area of Kangan Pur as a dowry to his daughter. The daughter of Raja Kambo named this area as Kangan Pur in the name of her daughter Kangan Bars. The area of Kangan Pur remained unpopulated for a long period of time. King Babar transfered this area as a feud to one of his general named General Akbar Mughal who populated this area. This fort-like building located 1 kilometer  North West of of Kangan Pur was built by Shahjahan in 1650 A. D. This fort-like building called Rani Bagh (Garden of the Queen) was the recretional place of the family of Maharaja Ranjit Singh, that's why became famous as Rani Bagh.


This fort had a strong wall and a beautiful garden inside the walls. Burjs were built at the four corners of the walls where guards were appointed to safeguard. A trench was also built from inside the fort to a nearby well located outside of the fort. With the passage of the time, Governments remained changed. In British Era, this building first used as Police Station and then as Veterinary Hospital.



In the same period of British Government, the story of its destruction started. From the partition of Hind till 1965' s Pak-India War, this building used as Veterinary Hospital. After this, this building and surrounding area became under the control of Pak Army. "

Grave of Henry Marion Durand at Dera Ismail Khan

 Grave of Colonial Administrator Major General Henry Marion Durand at Shami Road Dera Ismail Khan, Khyber Pakhtonkhwa, Pakistan





These are photographs of English grave inscription and grave of Major General Henry Marion Durand located inside the premises of Saint Thomas' Church Shami Road Dera Ismail Khan, Khyber Pakhtonkhwa, Pakistan. He was a Colonial administrator and British Indian army officer. 




Major General Henry Marion Durand was born on 15th November 1812 and died on 1st January 1871 while riding an elephant through the gate of walled city Tank Khyber Pakhtonkhwa. Henry Marion Durand joined Bengal Engineers of Royal Indian Army in 1828 A.D. as 2nd Lieutenant and got the rank of Major General. Mr. Durand took active part in First Anglo-Afghan War (1839-42) and Second Anglo-Sikh War (1848-49). He also served as Resident of Baroda and Gwalior and Commissioner of Tenasserim. He was a military commander during Indian Rebellion 1857 at Malwa. From 1st June 1870 to 20th January 1871, he served as Lieutenant Governor of the Punjab. He was awarded the awards of Knight Commander of the Order of the Star od India and Champion of the Order of the Bath.


Sir Henry Mortimer Durand (1850-1924) who drew Durand Line in 1893 between Afghanistan and British India was the son of Major General Henry Marion Durand. 


English Inscription written on the grave of Major General Henry Marion Durand reads as under:



 “Sacred to the memory of Henry Marion Durand Major General Royal Engineers C.B. K.C.S.I. Lieutenant Governor of the Punjab. born Novr 15th 1812 – died Jany 1st 1871. He entered the army in 1828 and after serving his country for forty years in the field and in the cabinet, was killed in the discharge of his duty, by a fall from an elephant at Tank – N.W. Frontier.”

These are photographs of English commemorative metal plate and British times letter box erected on a postal van at Golra Sharif Railway Station, Pakistan. The history of this old letter box written on commemorative plate speaks as under:




"This letter box, which was taken from a railway station on the Tanga-Moschi line inGerman East Africa, captured by the British during 1916, was presented to the Lahore Post Office by Major General Sirr H. Ewart, D. A. And Q. M. G.. in recognition of the services rendered by postal officials of this circle to the East African expeditionary forces."

Minaret at Darbar Sahib Tarn Taran Amritsar, East Punjab, India. 





These are photographs of English commemorative board and 156 feet tall Minaret located at right side of Shri Darbar Sahib Tarn Taran Amritsar, East Punjab, India. English commemorative board erected by the Manager provides this historical information about this beautiful minaret:



' This minaret was built by Kanwar Naunihal Singh Grand son Great King Ranjit Singh in 1839, this three storey minaret is located at the right side of Sh. Darbar Sahib. Its length is 156 feet 6 inch nearby villages 10-12 miles away can be seen from its top floor. It is a wonderful representation architecture of Sikh Kingdom.

Grave of Ustad Khileel Aatish Kasur ,Punjab ,Pakistan

 A Tribute to Great Legendary Punjabi Poet of Kasur


سِکے چاندی دے کھڑکدے رہے آتش

میری  اَنکھ  نے اوہناں تے تھُک  دتّا

These are photographs Urdu headstone and grave of great legend Punjabi Poet Ustad Khileel Aatish located inside the cemetery attached with the tomb of Great Punjabi Sufi poet Baba Bulhay Shah Kasur, Punjab, Pakistan. After Baba Bulhay Shah, Ustad Khileel Aatish was second prominent Punjabi poet of Kasur District. Khileel Aatish was born on 14th August 1938 in the house of Imam Din and Sobaan Bibi. His spiritual teacher was Zahoor Idin Sodiwal from Lahore. Ustad Khileel Aatish passed his matriculation from Government Islamia High school Kasur. He also obtained the degrees of Persian Fazil and Punjabi Fazil. He started his job in Municipal Committee Kasur but soon left the job and started his new job at House Building Finance Corporation Abbottabad. But again join the job at Municipal Committee Kasur. Ustad Khileel Aatish had no off spring. He adopted a girl child named Sabiha Kausar from his relatives.



Ustad Khileel Aatish was a born poet. He started writing poetry in Urdu but soon donated himself for Punjabi literature soon. He used 'Qufas' as literary surname in Urdu poetry and 'Aatish' in Punjabi poetry. He was famous as 'Malang Bulhay Shah'. The name of his Punjabi poetry book is 'Bhanbhar' that first published in 1976 and second edition published in 1995 by Khadham Publications Kasur. Ustad Khileel Aatish was the founder of a Punjabi Literary Organisation named 'Majlas Bulhay Shah Kasur'. Ustad Khileel Aatish is the translator of Dr. Allama Iqbal's Poetry. He translated 'Israr e Khudi' and 'Israr e Ramooz'. He also wrote a Punjabi book named 'Muhandray' that is not published yet. Ustad Khileel Aatish died of cancer and buried near the tomb of Baba Bulhay Shah Kasur.


Rafaqat Hussain Mumtaz, Master Nasrullah Sabar, Ahsan Ahmad Ahsan, Azmat Ullah Khan Azmat, Prof. Dr. Ibad Nabeel Shad and Late Baqar Raza are the literary students of Ustad Khileel Aatish.


In sweet memory of Ustad Khileel Aatish, A three month journal named ' Tamahi Ankh' had been publishing from 1992 to January 1994 from Kangan Pur under the editorship of Dr. Ibad Nabeel Shad. 


It is written on headstone of the grave of Ustad Khileel Aatish in Urdu:


' ایہناں قبراں دے وچ آتش میں وی گور بنائی

اپنے اتے سوہنیا سجناں! جیندیاں مٹی پائی


ملک خلیل آتش


(ملنگ بلھے شاہ)


بانی مجلس بلھے شاہ و مترجم اقبال


ولد حکیم امام الدین


تاریخ وفات 13 ربیع الثانی 1408 ھ بمطابق 5 دسمبر 1987ء بروز ہفتہ۔


ہر اک سدھر ہنجو بن کے مٹی دے وچ رلدی پئی اے۔

بن کے نِیر حیاتی آتش اکھاں وچوں ڈہلدی پئی اے۔'
