O'Brien Islamia High School Shahpur



These are some photographs of English commemorative stones and British times O'Brien Islamia High School Located at Shahpur Sadar, Punjab, Pakistan. The foundation stone of O'Brien Islamia High School Shahpur was laid by B. T. Gibson, Esquire, I. C. S. the then Deputy Commissioner Shahpur District on May 31st, 1916. Now Shahpur is a Tehsil headquarters. The O'Brien Islamia High School Shahpur was then converted into Government College in 1929 and became Government property. B. S. Shihn was the Executive Engineer P. W. D. Lyallpur Division. The second stone was laid on 14th January 1933. Now this institution is working as Government High School Shahpur Sadar.

Buddha 's Relic Stupa Vaisali, Bihar, India



All these photographs are of English commemorative stone and Ancient small Buddha 's Relic Stupa located at Vaisali, Bihar, India. This relic stupa was built over the corporeal remains of Buddha. The Mortal remains of Buddha were distributed among eight claimants. This site is one of these eight relic stupas.


English Commemorative Stone Describes the following historical facts :

'Buddha' s Relic Stupa

This is one amongst the eight original relic stupas built over the corporeal remains of Buddha. According to the Buddhist traditions, after attaining Mahaparinirvana. His body was cremated by the Nallas of Kushinagar  with a royal ceremony. Befitting a universal king and the Mortal remains were distributed among eight claimants including the Lichhavis of Vaisali. Seven others were Ajatshatru the King of Magadha, Sakyas of Kapilavastu, Bulis of Alakappa, Koliyas of Ramagram, a Brahman of Bethoweep and Mallas of Pava and Kushinagar.

This was really a small mud stupa measuring 8.07 meters in diameter raised in 5th century B. C. Later during Maurya, Sunga and Kushan periods it was encased with brick and enlarged in four phases which increased the diameter to 12.00 meters. The Ayaka projection noticed towards South and east is probably the earliest example of Ayakapattas.

Excavation of the stupa was conducted by Kashi Prasad Jayaswal Research Institute, Patna in the year 1958. The most remarkable discovery is the relic casket of stone partly filled with ashy earth. Besides a small conch, two glass beads, a fragmentary piece of gold lear and a copper punch marked coin. '

These are photographs of English commemoratives stone and Hridaya Kunj located inside Sabarmati Ashram  on the west bank of River Sabarmati Ahmedabad, Gujrat, India. This was one of the many residences of Mahatma Gandhi. Mahatma Gandhi along with her wife Kasturba stayed here from 1918 to 1930 A. D. The commemorative stone was Erected on 2-10-1936.

' Hridaya Kunj

These were Mahatma Gandhi' s and Kasturba's Residential Quarters from 1918 to 1930. From here were inspired all his national activities. It was from here that famous Dandi March recalling Buddha 's renunciation of old, began on 12th March 1930.

Mosque And Tomb of Bibi Ji Ahmedabad, Gujrat, India



These are photographs of English commemoratives stone and 565 years old mosque built by Mukhduma-i-Jahan, Mother of Sultan Qutbuddin Ahmad Shah II in 1454 A. D. This mosque is famous for its shaking minarets. The tomb of this Royal lady is situated to the East of this mosque. The mosque presents unique architectural style of its time.

'Mosque and Tomb of Bibi Ji


This is one of the largest mosques famous for its shaking minarets. The facade is this mosque is unique in details in addition to the three central archways. Its wings are in the shape of triple arched formation having a doorway and side open windows with richly carved screen under them. The minars are massive but elegant in appearance. It's lower parts are richly carved and its Neches filled in with floral ornamentation of varied patterns. In the north end of the prayer hall is the Mulkhana or royal gallery enclosed by perforated screens.

The mosque was built by Mukhduma-i-Jahan, Mother of Sultan Qutbuddin Ahmad Shah II in 1454 A. D. This Royal lady lies buried in the Mausoleum which is situated to the East of the mosque '
